Kristin (Englebert) Heurkens becomes the fifth multi-sport athlete to be inducted into the Marian Hall of Fame after playing prominent roles for both the women's volleyball and women's basketball programs. Heurkens earned All-LMC recognition all four seasons of her career with the women's volleyball program, along with an LMC Newcomer of the Year selection in 1998.  She remains one of the best attackers in program history to this day.

She closed out her career with 1,522 kills ranking her second in program history, while her 3.44 kills per set average sits atop the career leaderboard.  Heurkens was able to show efficiency with her attacking as she finished with the fifth-best hitting percentage in program history at .288.  Using her versatility, she also ranks fifth in program history for digs with 1,281.  Heurkens has three of the best 10 seasons in program history for kills with her best year coming in 2000 when she recorded 402 kills, sixth in Sabre women's volleyball program history for a single season.  She also had the 10th-best single-season for service aces in 2001 when she recorded 42 aces.  The Sabres earned conference championships in all four seasons of her career and went to the NCAA Tournament three times.  Marian went 110-33 during her career with the Sabres only dropping one LMC match during that span, a 47-1 ledger.

With the women's basketball program, Heurkens earned All-LMC Honorable Mention recognition in the 1998-99 season after shooting .484 from the field, 10th-best shooting percentage for a single season.  That 1998-99 squad went on to win 12 games and reached the NACC Tournament.

"I feel supremely honored to be nominated to enter the Marian Hall of Fame," said Heurkens.  "I feel so fortunate to have been able to play the sports I loved for Marian University with a tremendous group of girls and coaches that made my time at Marian so very memorable and most importantly fun.  When I look back and l think about my time playing it is always with the fondest of memories."
