The 2000 Marian University baseball squad becomes the second team from the baseball program to earn induction into the Marian University Hall of Fame. The only team in program history to earn a spot in the NCAA Tournament, the 2000 variation of the Sabres went 27-23 with a 9-3 mark in Lake Michigan Conference play. This earned Marian an LMC Conference Championship, which proved to be the final LMC title for the program.
The Sabres were able to win nine of their final 10 games in conference action to earn the regular-season title, and then only dropped one game en route to the tournament title. Marian was able to represent the LMC well at the NCAA Tournament defeating St. Olaf 2-0 in their opening game. The Sabres were also able to eliminate UW-Whitewater with a 4-2 win in 11 innings later in the tournament. Scott Stettbacher tossed all 11.0 innings to lead the Sabres past the Warhawks.
Led offensively by Jason Bischoff, the Sabres set a single-season record for home runs with 45 that still stands today. Bischoff hit 13 of those long balls, second-most for a single season in program history, and went on to earn First-Team All-Midwest Region honors. He also would compete in the NCAA Home Run Challenge later that summer.
On the bump, Lee Zollner put together one of the best seasons in program history earning nine victories and being named a First-Team All-Midwest Region selection. Zollner tossed nine complete games as part of his 87.2 innings pitched on the year, second-most innings pitched for a single season in program history.
Another five student-athletes from the team joined Bischoff and Zollner on the All-LMC squad. Ron Herr was also able to earn LMC Coach of the Year recognition in his first season as the head coach of the program.
