Darrell Mikan joins his teammate Arnett as part of the Marian athletics Hall of Fame Class of 2019 after wearing a Sabre jersey from 1987-90. Mikan was a four-time all-conference selection in his career to go with two NAIA all-district honors and an NAIA all-region accolade his senior season. Mikan is currently third on the all-time Marian scoring list with 31 goals and 35 assists over his four years for a total of 97 points, one of only four Sabres in program history with more than 90 points. His 31 career goals are third in program history, while his 35 assists are second to only Scott Merzlicker who was inducted to the Marian athletics Hall of Fame in 2015. Mikan started in all 72 games he played in his career ranking fifth in Sabre history for the category. He opened his career at Marian strong scoring 41 points as a freshman, fourth-most for a single season in program history, stemming from 14 goals, fifth-most for a single season, and 13 assists, tied for the single-season record. His senior season then saw him score 31 points, which ranks eighth-most for a single season. In a game against Edgewood on Oct. 20, 1990, Mikan set a pair of single-game program records with five goals and four assists. He remains one of only five Sabres to score five goals in a game and is joined by his teammate Steve Ward, who also assisted four goals in that Edgewood game, as the only Sabres to record four assists in a single game.
